Lymphocyte Subset Panel

Immunity Detection and Titer Testing

A Lymphocyte Subset Panel is a blood test that measures the different types of white blood cells, specifically lymphocytes, in the body. Lymphocytes are a type of immune cell that plays a crucial role in fighting infections and diseases.

A Lymphocyte Subset Panel typically includes the following tests:

1. CD3: This measures the number of T-lymphocytes (T-cells), which are responsible for cell-mediated immunity.
2. CD4: This measures the number of CD4+ T-lymphocytes (T-helpers), which play a key role in activating other immune cells.
3. CD8: This measures the number of CD8+ T-lymphocytes (T-cytotoxic), which directly kill infected cells.
4. CD19: This measures the number of B-lymphocytes (B-cells), which produce antibodies to fight infections.
5. CD16: This measures the number of natural killer (NK) cells, which are responsible for killing infected cells and tumor cells.
6. CD56: This measures the number of NK cells and other non-T/non-B cells.
7. CD4:CD8 ratio: This is a measure of the balance between CD4+ and CD8+ T-lymphocytes, which can be helpful in diagnosing
certain immune disorders.

The results of a Lymphocyte Subset Panel can be used to:

1. Diagnose immune disorders such as HIV/AIDS, chronic lymphocytic leukemia, or lymphoma.
2. Monitor the effectiveness of treatment for immune disorders.
3. Identify immune suppression or dysfunction, which can be associated with various diseases, including cancer, autoimmune
disorders, or immunosuppressive medications.
4. Monitor the response to vaccinations or immunotherapy.
5. Detect abnormal immune cell populations, which can be indicative of certain infections or diseases.

The Lymphocyte Subset Panel is typically ordered by a healthcare provider to investigate symptoms such as:
Recurring infections
Weakness or fatigue
Swollen lymph nodes
Fever
Skin rash
Joint pain
Weight loss
