Vitamin K1 Test

A Vitamin K1 test measures the amount of Vitamin K1 present in the blood. Vitamin K1, also known as phylloquinone, is a fat-soluble vitamin that plays a crucial role in blood clotting and bone metabolism.

A Vitamin K1 test may be ordered if a healthcare provider suspects a deficiency or toxicity of Vitamin K1. Symptoms of a deficiency may include easy bruising, excessive bleeding, and poor bone health. Vitamin K1 deficiency can occur in individuals with malabsorption disorders, liver disease, or those taking certain medications that interfere with Vitamin K absorption.

To perform the test, a blood sample is drawn from a vein in the arm and sent to a laboratory for analysis. Results are typically reported as a concentration of Vitamin K1 in the blood.
